Former two-term government backbencher Carmen Provenzano, who served in Parliament from 1997 to 2004 and who was recently nominated as the Liberal candidate in the riding of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., for the next federal election, died of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 27, at the age of 63.
