Kaitlyn Mitchell, Brittany Semeniuk, and Sinikka Crosland

Kaitlyn Mitchell is a lawyer with Animal Justice Canada, Canada’s leading national animal law charity. Brittany Semeniuk is a registered veterinary technologist who works as an animal welfare specialist for the Winnipeg Humane Society. Sinikka Crosland is president of the Canadian Horse Defence Coalition (CHDC), which works to end horse slaughter in Canada, as well as the export of live horses overseas for slaughter.


Time to enact promised ban on the export of horses for slaughter

More than 40,000 Canadian horses have been exported for slaughter year-round in all weather since 2013. Because horses have strong fight or flight instincts, these conditions are extremely stressful, putting them at risk of illness, injury, and even death during transport.
