As an emergency room doctor, I watch seniors decide between groceries and blood pressure pills; I see new immigrants ration insulin. In a country as wealthy and compassionate as Canada claims to be, this is cruel.
Publicly funding medically necessary virtual care would improve access for all Canadians, not just those fortunate enough to have stable jobs with benefits.
Medically necessary care should be publicly funded for everyone, not just those who choose to pay, or the 25 per cent with private employer-funded insurance. It’s easier than a pony.
