Delegates tap eight new Conservative Party national councillors, as 10 incumbents are re-elected or acclaimed

All national councillors serve on a volunteer basis, but their roles are extremely influential as they are responsible for overseeing the management of the party’s affairs with the exception of fundraising and spending, which is overseen by the powerful Conservative Fund.

Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre received a commanding 87.4 per cent support on Jan. 30, 2026, from more than 2,600 delegates at the policy conference in Calgary. The delegates elected a 20-member new national council on Jan. 31.

CALGARY—Ten of the 20 incumbent Conservative Party national councillors were either re-elected or acclaimed, and eight were newly elected in Saturday’s national council election.
