MPs approve House admin spending trim, but overall budgets still on the rise

Despite planned cuts to administration spending, the House’s overall main estimates ask for 2026-27 is still up by 1.9 per cent. The Senate’s budget is also set to jump by 1.5 per cent.
First set in motion in 2023, the House of Commons' Strategic Internal Assessment and Operations effort to find savings is set to continue.

The House of Commons administration is set to trim its net budget by five per cent over the next three years, starting with a two per cent—or $3.9-million—cut in 2026-27, as recently approved by the Lower Chamber’s executive Board of Internal Economy.
