Federal spending jumped 5.7 per cent in 2024-25

Program expenses for the year totalled $489.9-billion, while public debt charges reached $53.4-billion.

Federal spending—including both departmental program expenses and public debt payments—increased by roughly 5.7 per cent in 2024-25 compared to the year prior, standing at $543.3-billion in total.
