Homelessness is a problem that Canada can tackle with the Housing First approach, and encampments are the right place to start.
We need to focus resources on interventions that can rapidly reduce homelessness in a way that is apparent to the average Canadian walking down the street, writes Stephen Hwang.

Canada is facing a homelessness crisis. In Ontario alone, more than 80,000 people experienced homelessness in 2024, a 25-per-cent increase compared to just two years ago. Similar increases are being seen across the country.
