Liberal leadership candidates can pay $350,000 entry fee in instalments, but unclear if any portion is refundable

The federal Liberals will elect outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's successor on March 9. The entry fee to enter the leadership election is $350,000, the highest of any party in Canada.

The Liberal Party has set the highest entry fee for a leadership election in Canadian history, which can be paid in instalments, but the party is still deciding whether any portion of the deposit will be refundable upon the conclusion of the leadership contest.
