Canada can help improve the lives of the world’s children

Canada has a chance to help transform millions of children’s lives by supporting a new treaty to expand the right to free public education to include free pre-primary and free secondary school for all children.
The protocol is supported by children’s rights experts, scholars, child activists, and more than 500,000 global citizens who’ve signed an open letter from Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, pictured, calling on world leaders to act, write Lloyd Axworthy and Allan Rock.

Throughout much of the world, this is a terrible time to be a child. They are being killed and maimed in war, denied access to humanitarian aid, and suffering disproportionately the effects of extreme weather. There is no magic solution by which Canada—or any other country...
