A clean electricity system and a prosperous economy done right

Can we get to 100 per cent clean electricity in Canada by 2035? Yes, but not without a change in policies, and addressing key non-technical barriers.
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said 'building a clean, affordable, and reliable electricity system is at the foundation of Canada’s efforts to tackle climate change, and a generational opportunity to drive clean economic growth across the country for decades to come,' in an Environment press release from Feb. 16, 2024.

What will it take to get to 100 per cent clean electricity in Canada by 2035, and can we even do it? That’s a mere 10 years and seven months away: not a long time when we are considering large infrastructure projects that take years to plan and construct.
