Agriculture sector to push hard for unamended passing of carbon tax exemption bill for farmers in 2024

Bill C-234, an act to amend the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, passed at third reading with two amendments on Dec. 12.
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said the Liberal government has already excluded 97 per cent of fuels used on farms, during a virtual press conference on Nov. 14.

Intense advocacy is coming in the new year from representatives of Canada’s agriculture sector who will push for MPs to swiftly pass a bill that would extend certain carbon tax exemptions to farmers without amendments from the Senate that would reduce its scope.
