Massacres and guns

America’s problem is very bad. Those who own guns own lots of them, but only three out of 10 American adults do. Gun ownership is almost twice as high in the southern states as it is in the urban north-east (where the gun murder rate is almost down at the Canadian level).
A man opened fire at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas, on May 6, 2023, killing eight people and wounding at least seven others. The gunman was killed by an Allen Police Department officer, who happened to be at the mall on an unrelated call, according to media reports. There have been 202 mass shootings across the United States so far this year.
