Like past conflicts, the full extent of war in Ukraine won’t be known for years

OTTAWA—Feb. 24 marked the one-year anniversary of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. On that date 12 months ago, 180,000 Russian soldiers rumbled across the Ukrainian border in kilometres-long armoured columns.
