An immediate global ban on Russian energy imports is an off-ramp for peace

A cruel despot has now presented us with a historic opportunity to bid a fond farewell to fossil fuels and examine our assumptions of national sovereignty.
One tragic paradox of the Ukraine crisis is the gift Vladimir Putin, pictured Feb. 24, 2022, has offered to the world of the possibility of a sharp convergence of unity against a common threat: in this case, the threat of climate catastrophe and extreme malfeasance of a cruel, unrepentant thug.
