Mongolia ready to strengthen relationship with ‘third neighbour’

Bilateral co-operation is dominated currently by the developments in the mining sector, but Mongolia is interested in expanding its co-operation with Canada in agriculture, construction, and increasing people-to-people ties.
Mongolia and Canada enjoy a half-century-long relationship based on the shared values of democracy, human rights, and rule of law. Despite different political and economic systems, the countries share similarities, evidenced early on by the 1985 personal visit by the former prime minister Pierre Trudeau to Mongolia along with his three sons after he left politics.
Canada was the first North American nation to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia on Nov. 30, 1973.
