Settlement agreement unlikely to ensure safe drinking water for First Nations

Successive Conservative and Liberal governments have not acted to create regulations for First Nations drinking water despite the Safe Drinking Water for First Nations Act, which became law in 2013.
In July Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller announced an $8-billion settlement agreement had been reached between the federal government and First Nations living under drinking water advisories who had launched class-action lawsuits.
