The path to food security in Canada

The pandemic brought home for many the issues around food security. The path to a more secure future involves fighting climate change, bolstering the food supply chain, modernizing the Temporary Foreign Worker program, and more.

The paths toward a more food-secure Canada are manifold and will involve: slowing climate change and mitigating its impacts; supporting farmers, fishers, and processors; enhancing the food supply chain; modernizing the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (including providing paths to permanent residency and citizenship); gathering better data on food prices; and taking an intersectional approach to addressing poverty.Image courtesy of Pexels/Anton Atanaso
