Canada’s health research leaders: from hope to misery

Elimination of the funding for our most talented does not make sense; certainly it makes it unlikely we will ever meet the 2013 expectations of the former governor general.

In 2013, the then governor general David Johnston urged us to nominate our most talented. By 2014, a new effort to identify Canada’s most talented 'health research leaders' was in place with internationally competitive funding for those selected. Its performance was reviewed in 2018 and this new foundation grant program was recommended for continued support and funding with some changes.
