Trudeau government’s effort to control message on China another clumsy hit

When Canada looks like its mimicking message control approaches from the Chinese, we are failing in making the case that we are some virtuous democracy that should be listened to.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has denied his government directed former ambassador to China David Mulroney be pressured over his comments on China. Whatever happened here was at a minimum clumsy, perhaps conspiratorial, and ultimately more beneficial to the Chinese, writes Tim Powers.
