Digital businesses need to pony up their fair share

Any business operating in Canada should be given the benefit of a level playing field, especially when it comes to government-levied taxes and fees, whether it has physical space or not, writes Alison Evans, the interim president of the Hotel Association of Canada.
Members of the House Finance Committee, pictured on Centre Block, last year released its report on the pre-budget consultations. Among the recommendations made was a call to 'strengthen the Income Tax Act by introducing new rules regarding disclosure that would allow the Canada Revenue Agency to compel disclosure of information to help address abusive tax avoidance.'
