While the middle class—especially individuals with taxable incomes in the $90,000-$100,000 range—have benefitted from Liberal tax cuts, those Canadians with taxable incomes of $45,283 or less have been left out even though their need for extra income was obviously greater.
In the 2018 budget, Finance Minister Bill Morneau announced the name of the program will be changed to Canada Workers Benefit, though all Morneau did was to lift the benefits of the existing working income tax benefit, writes David Crane.
