The prime minister tried to justify the ban on offshore oil and gas activity in Canada’s Arctic by saying there isn't evidence that it can be done safely. Those statements are both inaccurate and misleading, but another statement he made is completely correct: he admitted that his government has now "closed one door of potential economic opportunity” for the North.
