Canada defends the rights of children caught in conflict

The Canadian Government has endorsed the Safe Schools Declaration, a key international document aimed at ensuring the protection and continuation of education during times of armed conflict.
A former child soldier is reintegrated back into school in South Sudan. An estimated 16,000 children have been recruited by armed groups and armed forces since the crisis in South Sudan first began in December 2013, according to UNICEF.
