Liberals on pace to miss Syrian refugee goal by a year

But the Immigration Department says it will meet the year-end target without more staff.

The federal government will blow past its year-end target for resettling Syrian refugees if it continues at the rate it has been working for much of this year, government figures show. Nevertheless, the Immigration Department says it's still on track to meet its goal.
