Canada needs an innovation strategy

With the automotive industry in the midst of a profound technology revolution, Canada needs to ensure that it is there to share in the emerging opportunities. That will require an innovation strategy.

Over the past decade, Canada and Ontario have made various stabs at advanced manufacturing programmes but they have lacked focus. Ontario has announced $35-million over five years to three universities—Waterloo, McMaster and Western—to pursue advanced manufacturing research.
