Cancelled Statistics Canada data series led to Emerson report proposal

Better transportation data seen as crucial for industry growth.
Nick Mulder, senior associate at Global Public Affairs and a former deputy minister at Transport Canada, spoke at the April 14 Hill Times Events' forum on Transportation. He argued that creating a transportation data platform within the Canadian Transportation Agency, instead of building on current Statistics Canada data, is an unnecessary step.

Canada needs to produce and share more transportation data with the public or risk falling behind in global logistics, several analysts said today.
