Very little benefit to joining TPP, panelists tell Broadbent Institute conference

'A lot of people who cheerlead on the TPP have never bothered to actually read the TPP. They simply cheerlead the idea of trade and trade with these partners but once you take a closer look at what the deal actually entails, I think there’s real cause for concern,' University of Ottawa professor Michael Geist says at the Broadbent Institute's Progress Summit.
The Broadbent Institute held a panel discussion called 'The TPP Free-Trade Charade' at its Progress Summit on April 2. The discussion was moderated by Broadbent Institute senior policy adviser Andrew Jackson and panelists included University of Ottawa professor Michael Geist, Journal de Montreal columnist Ianik Marcil, Corporate Europe Observatory researcher Pia Eberhardt and Canadian Labour Congress senior economist Angella MacEwen.
