Mandatory referrals for MAID: is there a better way?
Medical assistance in dying will soon be a part of health care in Canada. There are professionals who will not be able to take part in this, but mandatory referral will not satisfy the Supreme Court’s mandate to balance the rights of patients and physicians. Only a provincially-regulated reporting and registry process will respect the beliefs of all Canadians and ensure access for all.
