Re: "Harper assumes powers of executive privilege, U.S.-presidential style," (The Hill Times, Dec. 21, p. 15). Among a variety of contentious statements on which I will forego comment, James Travers makes a flat error. He says "Americans directly choose presidents," which is incorrect.
