Conservatives win 12 new ridings, say expanding base

Tories win new seats in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Nunavut, and Prince Edward Island.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper campaigned in 46 mostly unheld ridings in the last election in an attempt to expand the Conservative voting base. The party ended up electing 12 new MPs from those 46 ridings, four of which were already held by Conservatives.
