It would have been tempting under the circumstances for Mark Carney to roll over when faced with U.S. President Trump’s tariff threats and a possibly diminished CUSMA deal. But Carney has firmly made it clear that he would not commit to changes that would be bad for Canada. No deal is better than a bad deal.
