Who’s in the race? Tracking the field of Liberal leadership candidates

It’s not uncommon for leadership races to end with a much narrower field of candidates than began the contest.

Chrystia Freeland, left, Mark Carney, Karina Gould, Chandra Arya, Ruby Dhalla, Frank Baylis, and Jaime Battiste all made it to the starting blocks for the Liberal leadership race. Arya's application was rejected, Battiste pulled out on Jan. 30, and Dhalla was kicked out of the race on Feb. 21.

Seven candidates met the first major milestone in the Liberal leadership race on Jan. 23, but there are several more key hurdles they must pass over the course of the campaign.
