Hill’s Famous Five, horse-riding Queen are on the move

Some time this spring, the chance to sit in Emily Murphy’s chair and dream about building a better Canada is going to move to a main street in downtown Ottawa. Six modern women will be moving from their prime their location on Parliament Hill to busy intersections in the heart of the capital.
The Famous 5—Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, and Irene Parlby—will be going to a spot on Wellington Street outside the Senate of Canada Building (formerly the Government Conference Centre.) They will be near the entrance and will continue to look longingly towards that institution, having broken down barriers for women to be included, but never asked to serve.
