Library and Archives Canada to launch new foundation on Tuesday in Ottawa

Launch of Newly Created Library and Archives Canada Foundation—The board of the newly created Library and Archives Canada Foundation will hold an event, under the patronage of former prime minister Jean Chrétien, on April 2, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the main building of the Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington St. The evening will include the first presentation of the Library and Archives Canada Scholars Awards to five distinguished Canadians who have contributed significantly to Canadian culture, literature, and historical knowledge: Radio-Canada's Marie-Louise Arsenault; historian and philanthropist Ronald I. Cohen; novelist Lawrence Hill; writer Fances Itani; and CBC's Sheilagh Rogers. A cocktail and a VIP tour of the new Prime Ministers and the Arts exhibition will also be offered. This exhibition features artifacts, pictures, and portratis from the prime ministers' archives now kept LAC. It's invitation only. RSVP to bac.rsvp@canada.ca
