‘They will take their stories with them to the grave’

The average WWII vet is 88 years old. Between 400-500 die every week. Their stories are being captured before it's too late in one of the largest oral history projects, and in a new book, We Were Freedom.

Although Canadians know the country is at war in Afghanistan, it's not "something that they feel acutely," says author Andrew Cohen. It's a major difference from the "total war" of 1939-1945, in which more than 42,000 lives were lost.
