Re: “Electoral reform will not happen in this Parliament,” (The Hill Times, Dec. 12, p. 9). After reading Sheila Copps’ column, I realized why electoral reform is never going to happen. Not even an experienced politician like Ms. Copps understands two very important points: 1. Democracy is not about who gains with the reform—it is about representation, it is about democracy. My votes have never counted, Ms. Copps’ always did—to fix this we need reform. 2. Ms. Copps really does not have any idea what Canadians want. Actually she never did. She has learned how to live in an elite group that only cares about winning power and fundraising. It is indeed a very sad state of affairs. People like Ms. Copps has lost any sense of real political life.
